REAR AXLE REMOVAL
1. With vehicle in neutral, position vehicle on hoist.
2. Position and secure a lift under the axle.
3. Mark propeller shaft flange (Fig 1) #1 and axle pinion flange #2 for installation reference.
4. Remove propeller shaft and suspend under the vehicle.
5. Remove vent hose (Fig 2) #1 from the axle tube #2.
6. Disconnect Tru-Lok wiring connectors (Fig 3) #1 and #2.
7. Remove brake calipers (Fig 4) #2 and rotors #1 from axle.
8. Remove park brake cables (Fig 5) #1 from axle #2.
9. Remove brake sensors connector (Fig 6) #1 from sensors #2.
10. Remove track bar (Fig 7) #1 from axle bracket #2
11. Remove stabilizer bar links (Fig 8) #1 from axle brackets #2.
12. Remove shock absorbers (Fig 9) #1 from axle brackets #2.
13. Remove upper control arms (Fig 10) #1 from axle brackets #2.
14. Loosen lower control arm (Fig 11) #1 bolts and lower axle enough to remove coil springs and spring insulators.
15. Remove lower control arm (Fig 11) #1 from axle brackets #2.
16. Lower and remove the axle.
REAR AXLE INSTALLATION
CAUTION: The weight of the vehicle must be supported by the springs before the control arms and track bar are tightened. Failure to follow these instruction will cause premature bushing failure.
1. Raise the axle under the vehicle.
2. Install lower control arms (Fig 11) #1 onto axle brackets #2 and loosely install mounting bolts/nuts.
3. Install coil spring isolators and springs.
4. Raise axle up until springs are seated.
5. Install upper control arms (Fig 10) #1 onto axle brackets #2 and loosely install mounting bolts and nuts.
6. Install shock absorbers (Fig 9) #1 onto axle brackets #2 and tighten nuts to the proper specification. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS
7. Install stabilizer links (Fig 8) #1 onto axle brackets #2 and tighten nuts to the proper specification.
8. Install track bar (Fig 7) #1 onto axle bracket #2 and loosely install track bar bolt.
9. Install brake sensors connector (Fig 6) #1 on sensors #2.
10. Install park brake cables (Fig 5) #1 on axle #2.
11. Install brake rotors (Fig 4) #1 and calipers #2 on axle.
12. Install vent hose (Fig 2) #1 on axle tube #2.
13. Connect Tru-Lok wiring connectors (Fig 3) #1 and #2.
14. Install propeller shaft with propeller shaft flange (Fig 1) #1 and pinion flange #2 reference marks aligned.
NOTE: Clean all propeller shaft bolts and apply Mopar® Lock AND Seal Adhesive or equivalent to the threads before installation.
15. Install propeller shaft bolts and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS
16. Install wheels and tires (Refer to TIRES & WHEELS - SERVICE INFORMATION).
17. Remove lift from axle and lower vehicle.
18. Tighten lower control arms, upper control arms and track bar nuts to the proper specification.
