FRONT AXLE DRIVE SHAFT SEAL REMOVAL
1. Remove brake components. Refer to BRAKE INSTRUCTIONS.
2. Remove wheel speed sensor. Refer to SENSOR, WHEEL SPEED, FRONT, INSTALLATION
3. With transmission in neutral, position vehicle on hoist.
4. Remove hub bearings (Fig 1) #1 and axle shafts #2 from axle
5. Remove differential case (Fig 2) #2 with bearing cups (Fig 2) #3 and shims from differential housing (Fig 2) #1.
6. Remove inner axle shaft seals with a seal puller.

FRONT AXLE DRIVE SHAFT SEAL INSTALLATION
1. Remove any sealer remaining from original seals.
2. Identify if the replacement seal is the new style (Fig 3) #1 or the old style seal #2.
3. If installing new style seal (Fig 4) #3, orient the (special tool #8110, Installer, Seal) (Fig 4) #1 as shown in illustration so that the large flat surface is against the seal.
4. If installing the old style seal (Fig 5) #2, orient the (special tool #8110, Installer, Seal) (Fig 5) #1 as shown in illustration seal fits over the small stepped surface.
5. Use (special tool #6797, Turnbuckle) (Fig 6) #1 to push against (special tool #8110, Installer, Seal) #2, carefully press the seals into the axle housing.
6. Install differential into housing. Refer to CASE ASSEMBLY, DIFFERENTIAL, INSTALLATION
7. Install axles. Refer to SHAFT, AXLE, INSTALLATION
8. Install wheel speed sensor. Refer to SENSOR, WHEEL SPEED, FRONT, INSTALLATION
9. Install brake components
