AXLE SHAFT BEARING REMOVAL
1. Remove axle shaft from vehicle.
NOTE: Axle bearing race is a slip fit in the axle tube. No tool are required.
2. Remove brake dust shield (Fig 1) #1 and support plate #2 from the axle.
3. Bearing retainer (Fig 2) #1, axle bearing #2, axle shaft seal #3 and axle shaft retainer #4 are removed as an assembly.
4. Remove bearing retainer (Fig 3) #1 and bearing #2 with seal from axle with Splitter (special tool
#1130, Splitter, Bearing/Gear) #3 and press. Position splitter between axle shaft retainer and tone ring and press assembly off shaft.

AXLE SHAFT BEARING INSTALLATION
1. Install retaining plate (Fig 4) #1 on axle shaft #2.
2. Apply a coat of multi-purpose grease on sealing surface of axle seal.
3. Install seal (Fig 5) #1 on axle shaft #2 with cavity away from axle shaft retaining.
4. Press bearing and bearing retaining ring (Fig 6) #1 onto axle shaft #2 with press and press blocks.
5. Install dust shield (Fig 1) #1 and support plate #2 on axle shaft retainer.
6. Lubricate bearing with Mopar® Wheel Bearing Grease, or equivalent. Wipe excess grease from outside of bearing.
7. Install axle in vehicle.

NOTE: Inspect axle shaft retaining plate (1), if plate is bent or warped replace plate.
