PITMAN ARM REMOVAL
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the track bar retaining bolt (Fig 1) #2 at the frame and lower the track bar #1.
3. Remove the pitman arm (Fig 3) #1 retaining nut at the drag link (3).
4. Using the Ball Joint Remover (special tool #9360, Remover, Ball Joint) (Fig 2) #2 or equivalent, separate the pitman arm #1 from the drag link #3.
5. Mark the steering gear (Fig 3) #1 shaft and pitman arm (2) for installation reference.
6. Remove the pitman arm retaining nut (Fig 3) #3.
7. Using the Ball Joint Press (special tool #C-4150A, Press, Ball Joint) (Fig 4) #1 or equivalent, remove the pitman arm (Fig 4) #2 from the steering gear.

PITMAN ARM INSTALLATION
1. Align and install the pitman arm (Fig 3) #2 on steering gear shaft.
2. Install the washer and nut (Fig 3) #3 on the shaft and tighten the nut to 265 N.m (195 ft. lbs.).
3. Install drag link ball stud to pitman arm, install nut and tighten to 105 N.m (77 ft. lbs.).
NOTE: It may be necessary to pry the axle assembly over to install the track bar (Fig 1) #1 at the frame rail.
4. Position the track bar (Fig 1) #1 at the axle bracket, install the nut and bolt #2 at the frame rail bracket and tighten to 169 N.m (125 ft. lbs.).
5. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
6. Fill power steering system to proper level.
7. Check the toe setting.
