STABILIZER (SWAY) BAR, REAR DESCRIPTION
The spring steel bar extends across the frame and mounts to the frame rails. Links are connected from the bar to the axle. The stabilizer bar and links are isolated by rubber bushings at the axle bracket and attach to the stabilizer bar with a ball joint.
STABILIZER (SWAY) BAR, REAR OPERATION
The stabilizer bar is used to control vehicle body roll during turns. The bar helps to control the vehicle body in relationship to the suspension.
STABILIZER (SWAY) BAR, REAR DESCRIPTION REMOVAL
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the stabilizer bar link nuts (1) from the stabilizer bar.
3. Remove the link (4) from the stabilizer bar.
4. Remove the stabilizer bar retainer bolts (2) and retainers (3) from the frame and remove the bar (1).
STABILIZER (SWAY) BAR, REAR DESCRIPTION INSTALLATION
1. Install the stabilizer bar (1) to the frame and install the retainers (3) and bolts (2).
NOTE: Ensure the bar is centered with equal spacing on both sides.
2. Tighten the retainer bolts (2) to 61 N.m (45 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the links (4) onto the stabilizer bar. Install the nut (1) finger tight.
4. Support the axle and tighten the link nut (1) to 90 N.m (66 ft. lbs.).
