STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL
1. Disable and remove the driver’s side airbag. Refer to AIR BAG, DRIVER, REMOVAL
2. Disconnect the speed control wiring (Fig 1) #3 to allow access for the puller #4.
3. Partially remove the steering wheel bolt (Fig 1) #2 and leave the bolt in the column.
4. Install steering wheel puller special tool (special tool #L-4407A, Puller, Gear) puller with OTC®
7929A jaws or equivalent (Fig 1) #4 using the top of the bolt to push on.
NOTE: Ensure the puller jaws are seated in the pockets of the steering wheel armature.
5. Remove the steering wheel (Fig 1) #1.
STEERING WHEEL INSTALLATION
NOTE: Do not reuse the old steering wheel bolt (a new bolt must be used)
1. Install steering wheel (Fig 1) #1 to the column.
NOTE: Be certain that the steering wheel mounting bolt is tightened to the proper torque specification to ensure proper clockspring operation.
2. Install the new steering wheel bolt (Fig 1) #2. Tighten the bolt to 43 N.m (32 ft. lbs.).
3. Reconnect the speed control (Fig 1) #3 electrical wiring.
4. Install the driver’s side air bag. Refer to AIR BAG, DRIVER, INSTALLATION
